Baraja: "We want to dedicate the victory to the victims and those affected by the 'DANA'"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Sergi Canós has been the central figure of L'Informatiu of VCF Media this Tuesday. The player from Nules talks about his Sentiment and #ADNVCF after having completed his second training session under Rubén Baraja's orders.
First few hours as a Valencianista
It's been a very intense few days. Today has already been the second training session and I'm really looking forward to focusing on football. I'm really enjoying it.
Being here is what I wanted and what my heart was asking for. The welcome has been spectacular, the messages I've received from the fans, the Valencia CF staff, the coaching staff and everyone else. I'm looking forward to training at my best, getting fit and being at Mestalla.
Valencia CF debut
I came here to be important and to do my best. I'm looking forward to playing at the Camp de Mestalla and seeing the fans. I want to play football and have fun on the pitch because that's what I came here for.
Sentiment and #VCFDNA
Valencia Club de Fútbol means a lot to me. This is a thing that you have it there and up there and it seems like it's never going to be real. I've played in the Premier League for several years, things come and go in your career and little by little you 'climb the ladder', but this was never in my plans because I always went to Mestalla as a fan and now I'm going to be able to experience it with the Valencia CF shirt and playing on the pitch.
It was clear to me that if Valencia CF called me at some point I would have no doubts about coming here. The death of my mother also helped in my decision because, after 10 years in England, I needed to be close to my family.
Team
They have been very good. We have a great group and the welcome has been fantastic. I have had a chat with Rubén Baraja and he is going to give me information little by little.
He expects great things from me and I also hope to give a lot of things to the Valencian club. On a sporting level, I think that this intensity, high pressing and attacking in space is going to be good for me. We are going to enjoy it a lot. The team in these games has been very organised and with clear ideas, which is the most difficult thing and we have it. The year is very long and we're going to be together.
Position on the pitch
It's true that the pure winger, who faces the ball and goes to the wing and gets inside, is changing, but I have these characteristics and I'm going to use them to the maximum to be important. I'm comfortable on both wings, even if I have to play as a '9' as well. I'm at the coach's orders and I'm there for what he needs and when he doesn't need me.
Different preseason
If I were talking to the boy who exchanged cards, I would say to play tomorrow, but if I were talking to the Sergi of today, I would say that we have to be calm because of the way this pre-season has gone.
It's time to take it easy and keep our heads. Now we have a long week and if I feel good and the coach thinks I'm ready, we'll evaluate it. The year is very long and we have to be 100% for the whole year and not just for Sunday.
My first Valencia CF kit
I think my father gave it to me. It was very difficult to follow Valencia CF because some people in my family were FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF supporters and even my father's friends dressed me treacherously for Barça. I remember my father came running and took that shirt from me.
Family
It was lucky that they were able to be with me during these important days. I can't do this on my own, my family can do it too because they have all done their bit to help me get to where I am today. My mother is missing, but we have lived a lot together. She has been and we have tried to make her happy and she left happy. I hope she can see us from above.
I remember the goal by Kily González
I was with my father on the opposite side of the pitch and Kily's goal against Real Zaragoza in the 2001/02 season was spectacular. I hope I can score many goals.
Leaving Brentford FC
The situation was very complicated. I asked them please not to do the plus one of my contract and after 8 years at the Club, but they decided to do it as a matter of Club and the Sporting Director told me that for them I had a very big value and that they didn't want to let me leave for free.
I wanted to be able to decide where to go. The moment of the 'Please help me' photo was not vindictive. I had a hard time last season because the coach wanted me to play on the wing and I wanted to play further forward, where I was more comfortable, but he didn't give me the chance. That phrase in the photo was help me play football.
I love Brentford FC very much and my family and I have been very happy. I had the best sporting years of my life. I arrived as a boy and I'm leaving as a man to fulfil a dream at Valencia CF.
